I have a 3 week old baby girl. She sometimes spits up breastmilk. We heat with a wood stove. It gets very hot sometimes could that be the cause??

Our first son spit up breast milk all the time. He is 10 and just fine. Our other two never had a problem. There are many possible explanations, but I doubt it is because its too hot. She could be drinking too much, too fast, or have a milk allergy. For us, the only concern was having to change our shirts all the time!

its normal…make sure the baby gets burped well though.

  3. all babys spit up a little milk , but you should all was make sure the milk luke warm befor giveing it to her , and burp her evey time after she eat a bout 2 oz and , if she is spiting up evey thing that is going in her then you need to consult a doctor

  4. It is common for babies to spit up. Do not heat breastmilk that way. You are destroying important antibodies and other nutrients that way. Just heat a cup of water in the microwave or pot and put the bottle in there just enough that it is luke warm or room tempurature. That way, you are not deystroying the milk.

I don't think heat is the reason. Many babies spit up, but if she does it all the time she might need a med to keep the acid level down so it doesn't burn her esophagas every time it comes up.

  6. It's normal. Sometimes it can be caused by the baby taking in more than what their stomach can handle. But, it most cases it is normal…

  7. Do you mean that you express the breast milk, heat it up and feed the baby? I am not sure on the heating up part though, but I am no expert there.

Obviously you want to test the milk how hot it is before you feed to the baby. 3 weeks is still very delicate.

Babies (and I have a 6 month old) will continue to spit up milk for quite awhile. Make sure you burp them by holding them upright and rubbing their back, gently after feeding.

  8. I had the same problem… I tried everything, the doctor suggested hold him straight(while your standing) and then burp him… He grew out of it after 4 months…ugh what a mess

Yes, spitting up breastmilk is completely normal. I was worried about that too so I asked my pediatrician and she said that the amount that a baby spits up is almost nothing compared to what they actually ate. It gets mixed with saliva and mucous.. so, it seems like a lot more than it actually is. But, I have a good friend who's little girl spit up almost all that she was eating and wasn't gaining any weight.. so, she was put on meds. So, as long as your baby is growing then she's fine. :)
