I am a hairstylist,- have been for 14 years. I have always told my customers they can be honest with me. Yet, I have lost customers, with whom I thought I had a good relationship with. As a salon customer, I don't think I have always been honest with my stylists, because I didn't want them to think that I thought I knew how to do things better than them,- or because I felt intimidated by them.
As a stylist, I feel I have personally done my best to please my customers. I ask them if their hair is the way they want it, and if not, I will try to do the best I can to fix it. I know there are stylists out there who do not listen to their clients,- because I have been to them. Every hairstylist is different. As far as being honest with a hairstylist,- we want you to be able to be comfortable with us, and be honest. You need to speak up during the service, if you are not happy,- not after. (my mistake,- I have done that before.) I guess it just takes time to find a stylist you are really happy with. Most I have met, are more interested in the money going into their pocket,- rather than about the customer themselves!
