What happens when my baby who eats solids foods now doesn't want to drink her formula anymore?
Posted on Jan 31, 2009 under Drink |The baby is seven months old now and eats three meals a day (with juice/water). She is now only drinking a little bit of formula between meals, and some before bed.

Maybe u could try other formula? But it's more likely u'r baby likes his or hers solid foods more
But ask u'r doctor to be on the safe side

depends on how old ur baby is now? so ill assume she has her primary teeth now correct? by 8 months, she should be fine w/o the formula. just make sure she eats a healthy diet and finger foods and having a variety of choices for her to choose from will help her develop her coordination and decision skills. and dont be afraid to over feed. people have this idea of not wanting their child to be obese, but it depends on how u feed them. if u feed ur kid diet high in fruits, veggies, meats, cereals, and avoid them from the greasy fatty foods like mcdonalds and other fast foods. ur baby will grow up fine and healthy.

I think if she is gaining weight she is probably fine. Although you may wanna make sure her food and juice has additional calcium.

my son did this too at that age. Just keep letting your baby having the formula whenever she wants to take it. If she don't want to take it at her normal times just put cows milk in her bottle. She may or may not like it cold. My son didn't like it cold so I had to warm it up and he slept for the rest of the night. My doctor told me it was alright for my son. You might want to talk to your doctor also. All baby's are different, they all have different times of giving up a bottle and their formula.

My friend's 7 month old is going through the same thing. I have a 7 month old as well - and from what I read - current thoughts and according to JAMA is that formula/breastmilk should be their primary source of food for their first year. My friend called her pediatrician and she told her a minimum of formula for her baby to eat per day so she's cutting back on some of the solids even though it's been tough for her to get her son to drink more - cutting back is helping him eat more formula.
I'd call your pediatrician and find out what he/she feels is an acceptable minimum and find out whether your little one is meeting that.
good luck

If your baby is continuing to gain weight, I wouldn't worry too much. You could try cutting back on the solid foods if you're very worried, or ask your doctor for some advice. Chances are, the doctor will put her on a multi-vitamin with fluoride at a year old.
Try not to put baby to bed with the formula in her bottle. This will gradually cause Baby Bottle Tooth Decay. If she needs a bottle to go to sleep, put plain water only in the bottle. Believe me, this will save her teeth!
