    To get an accurate reading from your oral thermometer, wait for 30 minutes after smoking. This helps your temperature return to your normal temperature because when you smoke, it could have an affect of 1 degree less or more on body temps. Other factors include waiting 30 minutes or more when taking a bath, eating a meal, drinking any liquid hot or cold, or coming in from the cold outdoors.
