Can't predict someone's death. Smoking will probably be a factor in ones death but then again one's death could result from a car accident. One cannot tell. Smoking definately blackens the lungs and contributes to one's health demise, but it would also depend on how heavily this person smoked for (3 packs a day since they were 12, etc.), their own individual health, what good or bad things they put in their body, etc. A doctor cannot really predict either unless a persons health is so far gone then they might be able to say that one only has a few months to live or whatever.
Your dad may live to be 100 years old, it's hard to say. But if you are seriously worried about your dad's health due to his smoking I would suggest that you sit down and have a very serious talk with your dad, voice your concerns to him. Who knows, maybe by telling him that you're worried about how much and how long he's been smoking and that you want to be able to see him live a good long life he just may decide to quit. But unfortunately, you can't force him to quit, he has to want it himself.
Only God knows the time of ones birth and death. know one knows if they will be here an hour from now or not….the question is where will he go when he dies….if he accepts the gift of salvation then it will be to heaven if not well we all know what the other place is like….dont worry about when he will die be a good son while he is still here and show him the way to salvation through Jesus Christ…as well as yourself.
i think you know you cant predict death, but i can tell you most men with lung cancer die around the age of sixty. my father passed away 3 weeks ago at 63 from lung cancer and many more men will die this year the same way. cancer is the hardest thing to watch as it kills. i hope you can convince your dad to quit.
no one really does kno when some one is goin 2 die but cuz he did start when he was 12 u need to spend as much time w/ him as u can he may only have some years left. i dont want to sound mean but he will die soon the oldest he can get is in his 70s. so spend as much time w/ him as u can
my father starts smoking since he was 10, maybe? he's 60+ now… he just don't drink.
i don't consider him healthy, but he's never seen a doctor or took any medication. (stubborn old man :p)
he stills drink coffee, read papers, working part-time to avoid boredom, & spending his time with his grandkids.

Nobody can predict. He might not end up being affected either.

There's really no way to tell unless he goes to a doctor. Some people can start smoking at age 10 and live to be 100…it all depends on your body.
