It bugs my mind that in our insane society being beautiful is actually a virtue. How is that possible if a beautiful person didn’t do anything to achieve that? That person didn’t work for it it was just born with it! Be sure i respect people who go the gym and work out, sacrifice time and energy to get beautiful. But on the other hand you have these women that just get brest implants and there you have it:they are automatically valued by ignorant men the minute they walk out of the surgery room. The same goes for men:if a guy is tall dark and handsome(what horrible stereotype) he is perceived as being honest, competent, reliable as long as ugly guys are automatically bad, nasty etc
I mean how stupid are we?!My conclusion is that beauty = 0.I don’t care if you were born with it or you got a plastic surgery i doesn’t mean a damn thing.
I value things that you have to work for.Same goes for attraction-when it’s based on looks it’s based on the wrong thing.
What do you think?

Note: This has nothing to do with politics, just society and cultural opinion.
I just happen to stumble upon a website that was likened first lady Michelle Obama’s appearance to that of a snarling mutt. I was shocked because my friends and I were just talking about how beautiful she always looks. So I began to ask myself if this is a white/black thing. For instance, I know white men tend to like women with flat rear ends and an ample chest or very thin women with boyish firgures. While black men LOVE an ample rear more so than a large chest. And many black men I know will NOT date a woman who is anorexic out of preference. So I guess I’m curious to see what you think about the whole cultural beauty debate. Guys let me know if you do or don’t agree.
Thanks!

Does it seem that American culture and youth have become obsessed with and worship beauty/beautiful people to the point where a person is a ’somebody’ if beautiful and a ‘nothing’ if not
Are teens-especially girls being encouraged to place value and worth on people by how beautiful they are and that someone who is beautiful is automatically seen as a ‘higher’ or more wanted/valued/more popular/having more inherent worth etc?

If our culture was not so influenced by the media, what do you think the standard of physical beauty would be?
Jonni – you are not being very realistic
People are considered ugly in places where are no form of media to influence them.
There always will be people who are considered ugly and those who are considered beautiful by many.

women?
I mean are they into all the vanity
- botox
-plastic surgery
-Acrylic nails
-Spa/Salons
-Obsession w/fake eyebrows
-Weave and Extensions
-Chi ceramic Irons
….etc
Are other women across the globe into all this fake stuff?
How do you feel about it?
Personally, I find a lot of it promotes self hate. I believe in strictly nurturing my mind and body by keeping up with my hygiene, staying fit, eating healthy and DRESSING TO KILL!
I do french and ped’s occasionally, but anything being to synthetic I don’t tolerate it.
