Biology question - diet and health.?
Posted on Mar 01, 2010 under Diet and health | 4 CommentsWhat diet will cause more rapid weight loss?
Diet B
Low fat diet
includes any fruit, vegetables and proteins
energy intake is monitered carefully
Diet C
Low carb diet
Excludes fruit
Includes non-starchy vegetables, proteins and fats
Energy intake is not counted and may exceed 10 000 kl on some days.
By the way - This isn’t a personal diet for me. It’s a question in some homework I have to do and I wasn’t completely sure which was best.
Can weight lifting and a weight gain diet negatively affect general health?
Posted on Feb 23, 2010 under Diet and health | 3 CommentsI’m 25, male, 5′10" tall, and 120 lbs (not a type-o).
I recently had a thorough physical done - all blood work was perfect. I am in very good health, but I’m underweight. Even though I’m very healthy (and underweight), I don’t exercise regularly and I don’t have a perfect diet. I very rarely eat fast food, commercial restaurant food, packaged dinners, beef, pork, or fried food. Other than that, I do what I want. Cokes, ice cream, candy, and a donut here and there. 3 normal meals a day - eggs, meat, potatoes, brocolli, spaghetti, turkey meat loaf, pasta casseroles, whatever.
I want to start a heavy weight lifting regimen and a HEALTHY high calorie weight gain diet, with some protein supplements (no creatine).
My question is, am I fixing something that isn’t broken? Could making these drastic changes have a negative impact on my health since what I’ve been doing has already served me well? If I start eating 4000 calories a day, am I going to see those great bloodwork numbers possibly drift into a bad direction?
I’ll be honest: Even though I’m healthy, I will confess that I want to LOOK better. Hence, I want to gain muscle mass to not look so skinny.
But I don’t want to sacrifice good health for good looks.

Any Diets that will help me lose weight fast and not destroy my health?
Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Diet and health | 4 CommentsI am just trying to get in shape fast my wedding is coming up and I have done everything except get this. I know I am stupid for waiting for this to be the last thing but still. I need something to get me there fast!!!
Could diet and weight be affecting my health?
Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Diet and health | 1 CommentThis may seem like a stupid question but let me finish
Although my BMI is at a good level I am slightly overweight (quite a lot of fat around my stomach). I do not exercise much (lack of motivation + knee problem + asthma) and I don’t eat great (I am student :D). I would like to get in better shape and I hope to soon but I just want to know how my current condition could be affecting my health.
Recently I have been experiencing some chest pains. These can be quite sharp. They vary too. One recent bad one felt like a pocket of air trapped below my lung that was going to pop. Normally I experience them below/at the bottom of my lungs. I used to get the odd pain but recently they have gotten more frequent. Could this be related to my health/fitness?
Thanks
Also, how would you recommend I improve my situation?
Is this a bad answer for health- diet and fitness.?
Posted on Feb 08, 2010 under Diet and health | 4 Commentssomeone wanted to know how to lose weight cause they wanted to shed some pounds in a month so I typed this below–and two people thumbs down my answer. I honestly dont see whats bad about it, but if you guys let me know, i think i’ll understand better.
eat 1,200 calories a day
drink a lot of water.
eat a lot of fruit and vegetables- you can substitute candy with FRUIT. more healthy
eat six small meals a day( that way you won’t get hungry)
Run for at least 30- 40 minutes a day or just be active and play some sports or something
don’t eat processed sugars
don’t drink sodas.
Im pretty sure you’ll start losing weight if you do this.
but 1,200 calories is still healthy, but you just shouldn’t go lower than that.

Dieting and promoting good health?
Posted on Feb 02, 2010 under Diet and health | No CommentAn African American Woman that has HBP, Diabetes, High Cholesterol, GERD, Eczema, and Asthma. The reasons for starting a new diet plan is because the BMI level is 31; which means I am overweight since I am only 5′2. Since, I no longer have an income due to medical conditions keeping me from working. I have been trying to find the best solution of eating the right foods that will not trigger any health conditions and take the right vitamins that will promote good health when dieting. I have a lower estrogen level than I would like to have being as young as I am (26 years old); and it is causing the hair follicles to become blocked. My hair grew longer after I had my baby in August 2009; but it has started to fall out again drastically. What would you recommend regarding fruits, vegetables, meats, nuts, breads, and vitamins that contains the high levels of vitamins and minerals that increases your metabolism; boost your immune system; lose 30 lbs of unwanted fat, build your mass muscle, tones and sculpts your body, and promotes healthier, longer, thicker, and shiner hair, skin, and nails? No vitamins that contains harmful chemicals, artificial ingredients, or artificial colors are not recommend to someone with these medical conditions; so could you please help me?
