his kids live less than 3 hrs away, we have 5 grandkids, two we have never seen because they won’t come here…and we can’t travel there. they all say they are coming soon…but it has been about 4 years, and he is very depressed about this. please help
i didn’t break up his marriage, didn’t even know him until years after the divorce…have a wonderful relationship with one of his children, a tolerable one with another…and none at all with the last one
we don’t even see them at christmas, thanksgiving, or birthdays…after his last heart attack (he’s had 3) they condescended to spend 45 whole minutes with him…
thanks…not trying to force them to come..guess i just don’t understand how they can treat him this way…and don’t think it is MY fault..i don’t feel guilty, just sad that they don’t want to be around this terrific, loving, giving man who is a WONDERFUL father to them
to feesa…yes he HAS visited THEM on numerous occasions, at great personal risk to his health…and YES we have ALWAYS paid for their gas, so that should not be an issue.as for "getting his manhood wet" thier MOTHER remarried less than a year after the divorce, and we did not marry until 8 yrs later. just because he is the father, you don’t believe HE should have a chance at love and companionship?? he should just keep providing his ADULT children, and live in a van down by the river, all alone?
to monkeysee….thank you…good advice, and basically what i’ve been doing, just supporting and consoling, but i stay out of it. as for asking them to visit…they’ve been asked repeatedly, and choose not to come. i know THEY will be the ones with the list of regrets, as we have done all humanly possible. my husband and i have a truly wonderful relationship, and his grown children are not allowed (any longer…they tried) to interfere or come between us. thanks for the kind words…greatly appreciated.
