Eating
soy improves your memory
|
Everyone
knows soy is great for the
body, but new research shows it helps
the mind
too. Pharmacologists at King’s, College
in London found that people who
ate a highsoy diet for
|
|
10 weeks developed
better
memory than those who consumed the same amounts of protein,
fat, and calories, but without the soy. The results were not
unexpected: Soy is rich in isoflavone hytoestrogens — antioxidant
chemicals that mimic estrogen's effects on the
brain--and
previous studies have
shown
that estrogen improves memory . But researcher Sandra Fife
was impressed that "evena three-month change of diet can lead
to
improved
memory"--
so long as you gulp the equivalent of a quarter-pound of
tofu, or a pint
of soy milk, every day. |
